A Tale of Three Cities

It's officially summer now!! I have been waiting for this for what seems like an eternity and...I'm already sick of it. Kidding. But I could do without the humidity. Anyway, my sister and I have already had a nice little mini-concert tour to start the summer off in preparation for the real deal in August. We saw HURT in Springfield, Mo, Kansas City, and tiny little shithole called Algona, Iowa. If you ever get the chance to visit this village, don't. But in all seriousness we had a fun time and made some interesting memories. We got introduced to a great new opening band that we actually liked which surprisingly doesn't happen that often. Check out Righteous Vendetta if you have the chance! Their music is great and the guys are even greater! Springfield and KC were fun...but Algona proved to be really awkward considering there were approximately 10 people at the venue including me, my sister, and the bands so.......

We got caught chatting in the moshpit by RV...oops ;)

However, this awkwardness could have been worse and now Amanda and I are ready for our KV13 trip in August. I've mentioned KV13 a few times throughout this blog and now it's finally happening. Don't ask me what it means 'cause I ain't gonna tell ya...all I can tell you is that it is going to be amazing!! Luckily a tour has finally been announced too so we can work our way to KV13 in Boston while also going to a thousand concerts. It's an SP tour which probably sounds dumb since everyone thinks we hate them now. For the record, we don't. We're just....disappointed. But it will be a blast nonetheless. Our plan tentatively now is some magical route to Richmond; then we have a few days to fuck around in Richmond, DC, and Annapolis. Then it's something like Delaware, Rhode Island, Boston, a couple places in Upstate NY and blah blah blah. Essentially we're going to be gone for 13 days so if anyone has a place to offer us to stay we wouldn't be opposed hahah. I'm so excited!

In other news, I finally finished the first season of Revolution and it was awesome! I officially am enrolled in Vanderbilt now! And my last 2 silly bands broke from Summer 2010...boo. Hopefully this was at least somewhat entertaining for you. Adios

El Verano

Summer is here! I finally said goodbye to New York City...

Goodbye Washington Sq. Park

I have been home for a week today and I'm loving every minute of it! I am so glad that I survived this semester...now it's fun, heat, sun, and concerts!! Amanda and I already have a few lined up: 6/8, 6/9, (6/16), 6/27, and 8/16. I CAN'T WAIT. I'm trying to be patient and wait for the perfect stretch of tour dates to be announced but I'm dying of excitement. Still, these little dates are good ones to get us started for the summer. Also, SP finally put out their first single off the new album. It's called "There's No Going Back." I hate it. It's actually more poppy and worse than "Maybe" which I didn't think was physically possible. It is. The verses are okay but the rest of the song is full of "oh-oh" chants and shit melodies. From what I've heard from the rest of the album though, this is the poppiest song off of the album. At least I hope it is. So, I'm a little disappointed but I also kind of expected it. Anyway, a trip to Boston to cross KV13 off of mine and Amanda's bucket list is slowly getting planned out so this summer is already more exciting than last.

Gotta go,

xoxo Gossip Girl...kidding but I do miss that show

Tomorrow, Tomorrow

I have 2 papers standing between me and freedom. And by freedom I mean summer. I know this sounds like every other student during finals week but I am so relieved that I'm this close to finishing. I've obviously gone through finals before but this time was the absolute worst. I was one more item on my to-do list away from a having a mental freak out. Yet here I sit almost free, with the slightest smile on my face. I just finished my last final of the day and I now have to finish writing papers, pack, sell back books, and catch a flight home tomorrow. So these next 24 hours are going to be great. Since I'm sure I won't be on here again for awhile, I'll say it now: Goodbye New York, see you again...maybe.

Good luck to everyone that's suffering along with me this week!

So.....

QuĂ© pasa everybody? Today is cinco de mayo and I'm celebrating by watching television and reading a book for class about Bostwana! The last few weeks have been a little hectic with some lingering midterms and term papers being due. But I managed to finish everything on time and now only have 3 papers and 3 exams left until I'm finished with my final semester at NYU! That's right, I said "FINAL SEMESTER AT NYU" I've been agonizing for close to a year about transferring to a place that's in the Midwest and I've finally heard back from one school I applied to and...I got into Vanderbilt!! I'm still waiting to hear back from others in lovely Chicago but Vanderbilt is a big possibility for me. I think I'll miss New York once I'm gone but I know that it was never the right place for me. I've tried to soak up all that I can though in these past few weeks though (museum trips, central park visits, going grocery shopping at the TJs in Chelsea). And I've met a few good friends while I've been here; but enough about all that.

I go home in 11 days!! I can't wait! Not only will I be home but it will finally be summer! And I already have a few things to look forward to (aka 5/13 and 7/19)...so we'll see how that goes. Amanda and I are also ready for tour again. It's been too long and we have a few things that need to be crossed off our bucket list like KV13 and San Bernardino. So I'm sure we'll at least accomplish those while driving through the desert in style. I'm also working on a playlist for the summer. At the top of my list right now is "I Need Your Love" - Calvin Harris ft. Ellie Goulding. It's perfect for summer!

Must go back to life now, PEACE out girl SCOUT

P.S. So...... (snobby)

Spring is here...wait is that snow?

Hola!

I'm back from spring break and ready for these next 6 weeks to fly by. My break was a nice, relaxing trip home. I got to hang with my favourite person in the world: my sister, Amanda! We spoke in Aussie slang, visited the OG, went to the movies and oh yeah got new tattoos! A lucky number 5 for her wrist and a nice outline of Australia for my arm. These hold more meaning to each of us than you could ever realize. Anyway, after visiting some friends, family, and watching Friends on Nick @ Nite and Kourtney and Kim Take Miami it was time to come back to the city. Unfortunately a small blizzard covered STL and my flight was delayed 13 hours. This essentially led to:

  • waking up at 3am to get to the airport for my 7am flight on time
  • having a nice 5 minute layover in one of my favourite cities: Chicago
  • making it back to New York just in time for my last 2 classes of the day.

Exhilirating, right? Wrong. I'm living off of 2 hours of sleep and I think I'm going to bed in 5 minutes. However, I felt it was necessary to catch up with my life on here.

P.S. I can't wait for the amazing tours that are bound to happen this summer!!

#drafts

Here are a list of things I wanted to tweet but never did, so they ended up in the limbo of "Drafts"...

1) Does Canada have wars?
2) Am I the only one here who is confused by quinoa (keenwah)? #wtf
3) Funny how things change.
4) Call me old fashioned, but I don't like people who are assholes.
5) It's all about the subtleties.
6) I want all of the Dyson fans.
7) Is mixology an actual degree?

Some of these are out of context so I didn't think it would make sense to tweet them anymore, but I didn't want them to be nothing forever.

Superb Owl Sunday

Someone I follow on Twitter tweeted "Superb Owl Sunday" and I thought that was clever so I'm using it in this.

This was the first week of Spring semester and I have to admit I'm excited for these classes so far. But I'm still excited for the semester to end and it to officially be SUMMER 2013. My sister and I are finally going to accomplish KV13 and cross another item off our bucket list. Also, I'm looking forward to warm weather. It's been "cold as" lately and I'm over it.

FYI: The super bowl is tonight! I'm possibly watching, but also I don't care so I will most likely finish my history chapter and watch Bones.

Sorry for the short, semi-boring blurb but I must bid this writing adieu. Look forward to some fascinating lists and other types of posts in the near future! In the meantime, don't die of fatal hilarity.

UPDATE: I did watch the superbowl.

Ready, Break!

Here we go!

It has been forever since I last shared my thoughts so I thought I'd cover a few things:

I finished finals and final papers relatively unscathed. Boosted my GPA a bit and now I'm finishing up my transfer applications. If you recall, the world was supposed to end on 12/21/12. Well my world almost did. I got out of my final late, missed my ride (that was prepaid/nonrefundable), had to take a cab for an additional $80. Then when I'd finally sat down waiting to board my flight home, it got CANCELLED. Long story short, the next flight out was not for several days so me and 8 other St. Louis-ians rented a car and drove 16 hours overnight. I made home without being murdered! YAY! Then Christmas break began!!

I had several family Christmases and then had a New Year's extravaganza week with my sister and my brother-in-law. We themed NYE and dressed like we lived in the '30s and took paparazzi pictures. I love when the 3 of us get to spend time together. We also coloured my hair tips purple! LOVING IT

Random but: I forget to mention that over Thanksgiving break my sister and I went to see Hurt at the Outland Ballroom and I met one of my future boyfriends who played drums in one of the opening bands. That concert put us both back in the tour mindset so hopefully we can work something stellar out this summer!

Anyway back to the present: My fave bio teacher from high school is convinced I'm knowledgeable enough to teach his seniors about Human Evolution. So I'm making a presentation for that on Friday. Hopefully after this I'll never have to type "hominin" again.

I'm going back to New York on Sunday. Only 4 more months until I'm an official Chicago resident (fingers crossed)!

Lastly, 2 things I've realized about myself:

I'm a lister. (Ironic b/c that's my mom's maiden name), but I mean I love listing things. So look forward to a few of those in the near future.
I'm addicted to every show about the Kardashians.
